A Note to Our Families
Dear JK families,
We began our month by traveling up to Long Island with fifteen of our team gymnasts for an away competition. At this meet, each coach and gymnast was given a turquoise ribbon to wear to show our support for the brave gymnasts who have recently spoken out against the horrible actions of Larry Nassar. Our JK Gymnastics staff has been shocked and saddened by the depth of this awful situation, and we were happy to be able to take this small step to show our support of all of the female athletes in our sport.
We give our complete support to the more than 150 women who have bravely spoken up and shared their stories in the courtroom over the past month. We applaud their courage and their willingness to speak out in the hopes that we can prevent anything like this from ever occurring again.
We want to assure you that at our gym, the safety of our athletes is our top priority. We have multiple steps in place to assure our athletes’ safety including the following:
* We always have at least two staff members at the gym during all classes and practices. We will never have a child alone in the building with only one other adult.
* We conduct background checks on all of our staff members when they are hired. These checks are updated regularly to ensure that we comply with the USAIGC Safe Club Program.
* We have cameras in both our lobby and the gym that record all activity 24/7.
* We do not share any personal information of our gymnasts or their families. We do not include any identifying details when posting photos of our athletes on our website or on social media.
We hope that sharing this information will allow you to feel confident in our ability to continue to coach your children in a safe and positive environment. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions or concerns. We feel privileged to have the opportunity to work with so many wonderful children and we are happy to have you as a part of our JK family!
