In order to perform at peak efficiency, all organisms require a specific balance of nutrients. In week 5 we stress the importance of fueling the body with the appropriate quantities of quality foods to achieve maximum performance. Students will perform activities that reinforce the effects different macro nutrients have on the body. Students will be led through themed stations of varying intensities which will represent the different benefits and dangers of each type of macro nutrient.
Carb stations are FUN, short burn, high intensity; leaving you tired and sore afterwards. Protein stations are fun, continuous, medium intensity activities. Lipid stations are lower intensity or static positions; these can be easy at first but quickly become unpleasant when performed in high quantities. Balancing time spent at each activity will reinforce the qualities of each nutrient type and the relative quantities in which each nutrient should be consumed for optimal performance.
