Week 3: Muscle Memory

We explained to the gymnasts that repetition is key to having automatic safety shapes. On the vault we practiced heel drive jump rolls. On the floor we ran the tumbling course to understand the surface awareness. Then, we tumbled in a counterclockwise circle to get used to tumbling up and down the different mats. We also worked on tumbling progression. For the yellow jackets and honeycombs we worked on forward and backward rolls, straddle rolls, and some gymnasts worked on their bends and bridges. For the yellow jacket seniors and queen bees they worked on bridges & bends. They also worked on their pike, straddle, and tuck rolls. JK tumble worked on their back bends, handstand front timbers, and walkovers. It is important to remember that basic skills help with progression.
