JK Gymnastics will be closed for ghost removal beginning at 3:00 PM on 10/31. Makeup classes can be scheduled via the parent portal. A.M. Classes are encouraged to show up in costume for fashionable, frightening fun. Please ensure all costumes are appropriate for safe movement in the gym. All hats, capes, footwear, jewelry, wands, swords & sabers, shields, weapons, and other props will need to be checked into the cubbies at the start of class. We look forward to seeing our gymnastics ghouls and goblins soon.
Congratulations to JK gymnast and assistant-instructor, Katie, for conquering her fear; vaulting over the table for her first front handspring. Keep up the great work in practice and during instruction!
This week's focus is to achieve maximum effort towards technical proficiency in our skills. Students will be reminded and encouraged to demonstrate proper arm, leg, and body positions. Effort encompasses not only "trying hard" but "trying hard towards a defined goal". This week is all about reinforcing the proper goals of each skill and skill component.
JK Gymnastics' Fall classes are currently in Week 3 of 10. We would like to thank all of our parents who enrolled students this semester. Fall 2016 has been the busiest session in JK Gymnastics' young history; we greatly appreciate your patience and understanding as we grow and improve.

Our focus for week 3 is developing fast feet and confidence in rearward motions. Athletes this week will use their feet to hurdle, jump, leap and tumble. Students will also practice moving through space backwards with backwards rolls and safety falls.
Week 2 of Fall session was a fun and productive week of activity here at JKGymnastics. Students reinforced basic shapes, positions, and techniques introduced in week 1 classes. Starting and finish positions and safe landings were key areas of focus for week 2. JK Gymnasts continue to improve their core strength, stamina, and coordination as they refine the various skills at each event station.
JK Gymnastics is now accepting enrollments for our adult Gymnastics class. JK After Dark meets Wednesday evenings from 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm. Participants in this class will build total body strength and learn to safely roll, twist, invert, and eventually flip, If you were a gymnast in a previous life, or just always wanted to learn a cartwheel, come check out a fun and challenging JK Gymnastics workout.
The focus of our week 2 classes is "Back to basics". Students will practice maintaining adequate spacing and pacing to prevent collisions during circuit activities. JK athletes will also work on reinforcing proper starting and finishing positions. Practicing consistent starting positions dramatically aids in skill acquisition by providing a common reference point to apply actions and corrections. Just as great mountain climbers start from basecamp, Gymnasts should also begin their journey from a common point. Climbers strive to reach to the summit, their final destination. Gymnasts have their own goal to reach; finish under control and positioned for the next skill. Start Strong. Bee Strong. Finish Strong!
